Is Australia racist? The Indians are saying so. comments
Synopsis: Indian mainstream culture is currently brimming, overflowing, imbued with nationalist ferver. Indian mainstream culture uses the race card as the primary means of nationalistic expression. Australian mainstream culture is the antithesis of racist yet has trouble finding an assertive way of defining itself against accusations. Sufice it to say Australian mainstream culture is not racist - and Indian mainstream culture is Hyper-Nationalistic.
Talk to an Indian student in Melbourne thesedays and he'll tell you about how racist Australians are. He holds demonstrations in Flinders street sitting down in front of the trams path, and throwing stones at the train station glass till the cops remove him. He talks about how great India is and how Australia is the White Trash of Asia. He talks about India's nuclear submarines and space rocket launched satellites and so on. This is Indian Nationalism emmanating from a country that contains so much human misery and unimaginable poverty that I cannot possibly describe it to you in words adequately. Your best bet is to go and visit the place and behold the leppars on the street and the less noticeable things like aids epidemic and wife burning. The Indian insistance that Australia is racist, the police commissioner in Victoria Simon Overland, recently made the point that Indian students often put themselves in harms way by living in high crime outer suburbs, so as to economise on rent. Brumby the sennator for Victoria said recently that the Indian media is plainely biased and unbalanced in its reporting of the topic. This is true. Recently it was discovered that a much hyped case of an Indian man here on his wife's study visa had been dowsed in petrol and set alight by four men. It turns out this guy had been attempting insurance fraud and had accidentally set himself on fire. Naturally the Indian media instantly stopped following this case when it became clear it was not the fault of any Australians but the action of an Indian petty criminal. Similarly, recently it was discovered that another Indian man in Autralia on a work visa who had been murdered by being burnt to death by petrol, was in fact murdered by Indian nationals living in regional Australia. Suffice it to say this was not covered by Indian media.....Or the Indian National who killed two girls with drug overdoses - who happened to be a surgeon in Sydney - he wasnt covered by Indian media, nor was the Indian man who slit his Indian wife's throat in outer sydney, nor was the Indian parents who had their daughter kidnaped by distant relatives away from her husband whom she resided with in Australia, on the basis that they didnt approve of the marriage. None of this gets covered in Indian media, yet they continue to make hysterical accusations that crime against Indian nationals in Australia is race motivated.Looks like bised and unbalanced reporting from my perspective. Why doesnt India focus less on throwing mud at Aussie culture and more on looking after her billion plus poor population.... comments
